The Truth of Happiness
In order to find the truth of happiness we read a book, did our own personal experiments and research, and created a video to answer our individual questions as a group. The book we read was Brave New World and this book really helped me see the difference between happiness and pleasure. For the experimental part of this project I chose to watch the sunset all a while doing normal things such as listening to music and talking to friends. I saw that doing this did increase my happiness a little bit more. For this project Sara made us create an annotated bibliography with 5 sources she gave us and three of our own. These sources were used to help us create our own answer as to what the truth of happiness. After giving us five sources we had to come up with our own research question that we truly wanted to find the answer to. My research question was, does a person who has gone through more struggles end up having more sustainable happiness in the end? The sources I found each gave very different answers so I didn’t get a full answer. Then Sara had us create groups according to our individual research questions. When we found our groups we had to combine our questions and research in order to answer one question using video. Our groups question was, does success equal happiness? Each one of the steps in this project taught me things. From Brave New World I learned the difference between happiness and pleasure and what is more important. I learned different things from each source such as just because you go through more struggles doesn’t necessarily mean that you won’t be as happy as someone else, it all depends on your mindset. Working in my video group caused me to learn that success doesn’t lead to happiness but your happiness can lead you to success.
